home > news Domain Name Transfer Agreement Domain Name Transfer AgreementI've had a few people lately ask me if I had a contract that I use when I sell or buy a domain name or website. In fact, I have been using a Domain Name Transfer Agreement since 1998 or so, and it's worked out well for all parties involved in the transaction.
Once the price for a domain name is agreed upon, I normally fax a copy of the Domain Name Transfer Agreement to the other parties involved so that they can take a look at it. They usually have their legal counsel take a look at it--and they usually end up using this agreement (although a few have marked off inappropriate wording in it if it doesn't apply). Once the agreement is signed, I highly recommend an escrow company be used so that everything can be transferred over--and when the buyer gets ahold of the domain name the money can then be released to the seller of the domain name. All in all, it's always worked out well for both me and the other parties involved when I've sold domains in the past. If you're interested in selling a website or buying a website, then check out the I want to sell my site section at the Search Engine Forums. If you ever have any questions about buying or selling a domain name (or even how much it might be worth), the feel free to contact me.
