Media-Friendly Printable Press Releases

Impressing the media enough to publish web based press releases is no easy task, not to mention the obstacles that meet the media as far as different paper sizes in different countries are concerned. Dan McTaggart (from www.websitepromotion.ws) and Marinda Stuiver (from www.e-spectations.com) met online and opened discussions regarding the use of printable online press releases vs. traditional web based press releases. This resulted into the launch of www.printrelease.com, a new and innovative way of looking at press releases.

Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) May 10, 2005 -- Impressing the media enough to publish web based press releases is no easy task, not to mention the obstacles that meet the media as far as different paper sizes in different countries are concerned.

Traditionally, press releases are used to communicate news worthy events to the media in a set format and standard. Prior to the Internet, these press releases were faxed to a targeted publication’s editor, leaving the editors’ desk swamped with paperwork. With the Internet, press releases are published online and PR firms developed categorized online directories to publish to, easing the task of editors as they could visit these directories and draw press releases targeted at their specific industry.

Press releases formed part of these online directories’ content and it was not long before online marketers realized the advantages of publishing press releases. It assisted web site owners in positioning of their web sites as news sources for breaking events on the Internet.

Print Release takes all these factors into consideration, and takes it one logical giant step further. It assists the business owner with information about compilation of a proper press release and provides the necessary code to users in order to publish a release on their own web site, printable in A4 and US letter size therefore easing the task of the journalist reviewing the release.

Features include fast download time, cross browser compatibility, validated code user friendliness and if optimized properly the added advantage of positioning as an entity of its own in the search engines.

Tested Print Releases downloaded 2 pages in 3.8 seconds. “Having files that load below five seconds is kind of like moving your file to the top of an extremely narrow field. If the keywords are done right, you could easily dominate for any keyword phrase of your choice. I imagine that sub-5 second pages are very few and far between on the net. I think they are in a class by themselves, because the speed at which a page is displayed to a searcher is a factor in the Google algorithm. Now, some might say "Big Deal", so it's better for one attribute. I, however, think it is significant. The field is getting so much more difficult these days and there are so many tools to help more people rank highly, there is less and less that distinguishes pages with similar content. If you can dominate in any one area, I think it is a distinct competitive edge.

These pages will also help the media track news stories via RSS and Blogs. We have created a media friendly, search engine friendly and resource friendly(wasting less time and paper) web page that has several features that supplement the traditional Internet “press room”. Website owners are shown how to get wide distribution and how to be “media -friendly” says Dan McTaggart from Websitepromotion.ws.

“The format that led to the creation of Print Release has been in use since 1998 – it was an easy and fast way for us to update the media during events such as the Vasco Da Gama Yacht race where we tracked the yachts via satellite on a designated web site. Instead of faxing the media, we sent them links to the site where the releases could be printed directly from the web site – when we looked at the response and publications that featured the event, technology used etc., we knew we were on to something good. After meeting Dan and putting our heads together we just took the basic concept one step further” Says Marinda Stuiver from E-SPECTATIONS.
